“Bangladesh, A Muslim
Country?"
Before we begin, let's take a deep dive into some
history regarding The Independence of Bangladesh:
Modern
Bangladesh emerged as an independent nation in 1971 after breaking away and
achieving independence from Pakistan in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
Now let's take a look at how it obtained the title
Muslim Country:
The country's borders coincide with the major
portion of the ancient and historic region of Bengal in the eastern part of the
Indian subcontinent, where civilization dates back over four millennia, to the
Chalcolithic. The history of the region is closely intertwined with the history
of Bengal and the history of India.
The area's early history featured a succession of
Indian empires, internal squabbling, and a tussle between Hinduism and Buddhism
for dominance. Islam became dominant gradually since the 13th century when
Sunni missionaries such as Shah Jalal arrived. Later, Muslim rulers initiated
the preachings of Islam by building masjid (mosques) and madrassas.
Afterward, some solid rules were established about
what clothes people should and should not wear. The same trend has gone on for
decades until the “modern era" arrived. The era which apparently gives
women the freedom they never had and that too for a very good reason. Women
were strictly forbidden to wear clothes that showed anything that could
sexually arouse a male individual. This rule was followed until a certain time
came. I like to call it the “modern era".
This year women all over the land are demanding
justice for the endless harassments they had to face. That would be a
completely rational thing to ask for if they weren't the ones responsible for
this problem in the first place. They want to live the life of an American
while at the same time demanding justice like an Arab woman. Because the USA
currently holds the record for most sexual harassment crime reports in a single
country. Whereas Saudi Arabia is at the bottom of the list when it comes to
sexual harassment crimes. The justice system of Saudi Arabia does not allow for
a man to get off by committing such a shameful crime whereas the justice system
of America hardly tries to resolve this problem.
The “modern" women of Bangladesh think it is
necessary to wear smaller clothes in order to look beautiful/educated/modern.
Their mentality has been botched. They have been brainwashed by the commercial
world of glamorous celebrities. These women idolize these celebrities like a
son idolizes his loving father. They all have been brainwashed into thinking
this is what it means to be happy, this is what it means to be successful, and
this is what it means to fulfill your dreams...
When a man rightfully tells her to cover up her body
to showcase modesty she replies by saying, “If you men would just learn to
control yourselves than we wouldn't need to cover up." To this I must say,
they have no idea what they are talking about. If controlling ourselves was enough
then there wouldn't be such a paw regarding veils in the more practicing Muslim
countries such as Saudi Arabia. It's like going into a war zone without taking
your shield because you have faith in humanity that your enemies will not try
killing you. It's just a stupid thing to say. Moreover, they say things like,
we are backdated and what not. Yes, Madame! We are definitely backdated, but we
are not blind, we do not make excuses for our buffoonery, we do not ask for
justice where there's clearly our fault.
In conclusion I'd like to say one thing and that is,
most people of this country do not properly pray 5 times a day, do not keep a
beard even in their late 50s and 60s, play music even after knowing it's haram,
don't fast all 30 days of Ramadan, have premarital relationships, wear
revealing clothing prohibited for them to wear and so on. In order for a
country to claim it is a Muslim country, it must be first confirmed that it is
even remotely worthy of having that title. Does Bangladesh truly deserve to be
called a Muslim country?
